HOMA-IR vs QUICKI: Which Insulin Test?
Two simple indices estimate insulin sensitivity from fasting labs.
How they differ
HOMA-IR multiplies insulin and glucose, so higher values mean more resistance. QUICKI uses logarithms and is inversely related, so lower values mean more resistance.
Which to use
Both correlate well with clamp studies. QUICKI behaves better in people with diabetes, while HOMA-IR is more common in research.
Caveats
Fasting insulin assays are not standardised and results vary between labs. Use them to follow trends, not to diagnose.

Higher QUICKI means better insulin sensitivity. Healthy adults are typically above 0.35.
