Low blood sugar

Shakiness, sweating, hunger, confusion and fast heartbeat can signal hypoglycaemia. Treat quickly with fast-acting carbohydrate.

High blood sugar

Thirst, frequent urination, blurry vision and tiredness are common. Very high readings with nausea or breathing changes need urgent care.

Be prepared

Carry fast-acting sugar if you use insulin or sulfonylureas, wear identification and teach others what to do in an emergency.
