Chronotypes: Are You a Lark or an Owl?

Your internal clock influences when you feel best.

What chronotype is

Chronotype is your natural tendency toward earlier or later sleep and activity. It is partly genetic and shifts with age, becoming later in teens and earlier in older adults.

Social jet lag

When work schedules clash with your clock, you accumulate sleep debt and may feel jet-lagged. A big weekend shift in sleep timing is the sign.

Working with it

Schedule demanding tasks at your peak, get morning light to advance your clock and keep a regular wake time.
