What is normal

A normal resting heart rate for adults is 60 to 100 beats per minute. Fit people can be in the 40s or 50s.

Risk signal

Studies link resting rates above 80 with higher cardiovascular risk. Sudden changes deserve attention.

Lowering it

Regular cardio, good sleep, less caffeine and stress control reduce resting heart rate. Rate-pressure product combines pulse and systolic pressure to show heart workload.
